Application Instructions

Applications for the 2024 Bates Dance Festival will open November 29.

  Important Information

Please carefully read all instructions before beginning your application.

Students are strongly encouraged to submit their complete application package early to ensure it is complete.  Students will be placed on a waiting list once the program is filled. 

Applicants will be electronically notified of their status within 3 weeks of submission.

To hold your place in the program, a $500 deposit is due within two weeks of your acceptance. This non-refundable deposit is applied directly towards your tuition.

 Course Selection Guidelines

To be placed in preferred courses, students will reflect experience on their resumes and in application videos. This ensures both safety and rigor in classes. Please use the following guidelines to consider appropriate class selections and rank your preferences.

Level III (intermediate) requires dancers have at least four years of current and continuous training in specified technique.

Level IV (intermediate/advanced) requires dancers have at least five years of current and continuous training in specified technique.

Level V (advanced) requires dancers have at least six years of current and continuous training in specified technique.

 Required Materials

Students will apply to all programs using Acceptd, beginning December 6th.

A complete application must include the following materials:

1. Resume and Headshot

A current headshot and resume indicating your dance training over the last three years.

2. Application Fee

The required non-refundable $85 application fee.

3. Video Clip

Please shoot your video in whatever space is available to you. Living rooms, kitchens, bedrooms are acceptable, as well as studios!

Please submit one – two minutes of video shot in the last year that clearly demonstrates (1) your ability to move through the space available to you; (2) moving into and recovering from the floor; (3) perform both sustained and quick movement. 

If you are not the only dancer in a performance or class video, please clearly identify yourself.
